Tech News Pixel 7’s front-facing camera could be getting a huge upgrade

Not much is known about Google’s Pixel 7 phones right now other than its design which Google had teased during I/O 2022, but according to an APK teardown by 9to5Google, they have discovered that the phones could be getting an upgrade in the front-facing camera where it will be able to shoot videos in 4K.
Right now, the Pixel 6 front-facing camera can only record 1080p video at 30fps, which is pretty standard and kind of the bare minimum we would expect from phones these days, but if this APK teardown is accurate, a jump to 4K could help improve videos taken using the front-facing camera.

This means that 4K recording will no longer be exclusive to the Pro version of the phone, which is good news for those who might not necessarily want to spend the extra money getting the Pixel 7 Pro. The APK teardown does not mention anything about a sensor upgrade, but presumably the 4K recording means that Pixel 7 could end up using the same sensor as the Pixel 6 Pro.

The Pixel 7 series are expected to be powered by the Tensor 2 chipset, the successor to the Tensor that launched back in 2021. Other rumored features also include the possibility of the display’s brightness being increased. It is unclear when the Pixel 7 phones will be officially revealed, but seeing as the Pixel 6 phones were announced in October last year, perhaps we’ll see the Pixel 7s announced around the same time later this year.
