Tech News Final Fantasy Record Keeper Might Be Going Away Soon

One of the biggest disadvantages of online-only games is that they’re a lot harder to access once they’re taken off online stores or when their servers are shut down. It would seem that Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Record Keeper, one of the studio’s online gacha-style games, might be bidding farewell to certain regions soon.

Starting on August 30, 2022, players will no longer be able to purchase gems in-game, and the game itself will be closed down on September 29, 2022. However, the shutdown will only be for regions outside Japan, where the game will presumably still be available afterwards. No clear reason about the decision was given, however.

Messages from Producer Ichiro Hazama and Development Producer Yu Sasaki are displayed in-game, thanking players for taking part in Final Fantasy Record Keeper. The game was originally launched in Japan in 2014, followed by a global release in 2015.

Final Fantasy Record keeper was developed and published by Square Enix in collaboration with DeNA, and features online gameplay elements, as well as a gacha mechanic. If you’re in dire need of more Square Enix software and want to check out more of the company’s mobile gaming offerings, you can check out some of our picks here and here.
