Tech News Longform content comes to Twitter with Twitter Notes

Twitter said that it has started experimenting with a new way to post lengthy content called “Notes”.
A brand-new Twitter team called Twitter Write, which is “focused on building tools and community so readers and writers can get the most out of Twitter,” will be in responsible for the development of Notes.

Writers will be able to send out long-form writing that is lengthier than the 280-character restriction that is now allowed on the platform using Notes, can be used to provide more customization for their content. Things like images, embeds and header images are all fair game under this new system.

The test run of the new feature will involve a select number of writers from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ghana. The left nav bar will now include a new “Write” option that users can use to add a message. Despite being written in their individual countries, this content will be readable everywhere. However, Twitter warns that not all nations may be able to access Notes just yet.

The launch of long-form material on Twitter will put blogging sites like WordPress directly in competition. The new feature might also help users who would like to read in one spot but who may have have trouble in the past navigating lengthy threads.
