Tech News Galaxy S23’s telephoto camera may not see any improvement

After four years, Samsung finally upgraded the telephoto camera on the vanilla and plus versions of its high-end phones. The Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ feature 10MP telephoto cameras with 3x optical zoom. Next year, the company might not improve it further.

According to a report from the folks over at GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23+ will feature 10MP telephoto cameras with 3x optical zoom, similar to their predecessors. Information about the primary and ultrawide cameras on those upcoming smartphones hasn’t been revealed yet.

Rumors indicate that the Galaxy S23 Ultra may use a 200MP camera sensor, probably the ISOCELL HP1. However, the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23+ may stick to 50MP main cameras since Samsung introduced them just this year with the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+.

What Samsung needs to improve is the ultrawide camera. Although the 12MP ultrawide cameras on Samsung’s flagships are not bad, they could use a hardware upgrade, especially compared to the 48MP and 50MP ultrawide cameras seen on most Chinese flagship phones.
